General López Department

The Departamento General López is located in the southern province of Santa Fe in the center of Argentina and is one of 19 administrative units in the province.

It is bordered on the north by the departments Caseros and Constitución, in the east and south with the province of Buenos Aires and to the west by the province of Córdoba.

The capital of the department of General López is Melincué.

Population

According to estimates by the INDEC, the population increased from 182 113 inhabitants (2001) to 194 754 inhabitants in 2005.
