Germany men's national volleyball team

The German national volleyball team of men is a selection of the best German players who represents the DVV in international tournaments and international matches. Their biggest success was the fifth place at the 2012 Olympic Games and two fourth places at the European Championships. During the division of Germany at the same time the national team played in the GDR. After the reunification of some DDR players continued their career in the joint German team.

On 27 February 2012 the DVV appointed the Belgian Vital Heynen, who had been in charge of the first division Noliko Maaseik, as the new coach of the national team. Heynen was the successor to the Argentine Raúl Lozano, who was sacked after the unsuccessful European Championship in November 2011. History

World cup

In the first participation in 1956 in France, the crew of the Federal Republic did not come on the 24th and thus, in the square. 1966 in Czechoslovakia, the West Germans were hardly successful at number 20. While the GDR four years later became world champion, the DVV team qualified for the World Cup no longer up to the reunification. 1994, qualified the team of the now united Germany for the first time a World Cup. European

Three EM tournaments took already place in Berlin ( 1983, 1991 and 2003 ), but the German teams were never finished in the top three of a European Championship itself. World League
