Gremyachinsk

Gremyachinsk (Russian Гремячинск ) is a city in the Perm region (Russia) with 10,752 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located about 175 km northeast of the regional capital of Perm on the western flank of the Middle Urals at a right tributary of the Kama Wilwa in the river system.

Gremyachinsk the region is under the administrative right. The city is the urban-type settlements Schumichinski ( 1,680 inhabitants), Jubileiny ( 1,207 inhabitants) and USWA (601 inhabitants) and 3 villages with a total of 46 residents assumed that the total population of the administrative unit Gremyachinsk city is 14,689 (calculated 2009).

The town lies on the railway line Tschussowoi - Kisel - Solikamsk ( Baskaja station, 5 km to the west ).

History

Gremyachinsk was built in 1941 as a mining camp in the context of the beginning of the development of a coal deposit and received city rights in 1949. The name derives from the river Bolshaya Gremjatschaja.

Economy

The formerly cityscape determining coal industry came during the economic crisis of the 1990s to a virtual standstill, which is also the sharp drop in population -related, and in 2005 was all set. Today, forestry and engineering dominate ( a small plant for vehicle equipment).
