Hammarby Fotboll

Hammarby IF, Hammarby officially Idrottsförening ( German: Hammarby Sports Association ), colloquially BAJEN (formerly Hammarbaj ), is a Swedish sports club from Stockholm.

It was founded in 1889 as Hammarby Roddförening ( German: Rowing Association ) founded but already eight years later changed the name, because you operate more sports as rowing. The most successful sports of the association are handball, bandy, ice hockey, soccer and Speedway.

Hockey

The Hockey Department of Hammarby was founded in 1921 and in 2008 went bankrupt. Hammarby was eight times Swedish champion in ice hockey (1932, 1933, 1936, 1937, 1942, 1943, 1945 and 1951). The home games usually took place in the arena Hovet. Recently the team played in the second-rate HockeyAllsvenskan.

Bandy

The Bandyabteilung was founded in 1905. The club was a founding member of the Bandyallsvenskan, which started on January 6, 1931. Since then, the club has always played in the highest or second highest in the league. The association was able to attend eight championship finals ( most recently in 2010 ) and was doing 2010 Swedish champion. In addition, Hammarby IF Bandy Bandy could win the World Cup three times ( Ljusdal World Cup): 1999, 2001 and 2009.

Handball

Hammarbys men's team plays in handball in the highest Swedish league, the Elitserien. The team played, among others, the most-capped player Staffan Olsson, who works as a trainer today. In the 2005/06 season the team for the first time won the Swedish championship title. A year later (2006/ 07) Hammarby successfully defended the championship. In the 2007 /08 season, Hammarby was then able to secure the title for the third time.

Football

The football section was founded in 1915. In the same year, Klara BK closed three years later (1918 ) Johanneshovs IF the club to. She was among the founding members of the Allsvenskan, however, rose from just after the first season. As a result, the team was in the lower leagues and was in the 1950s and 1960s, a lift team.

Only in the 1970s and 1980s Hammarby IF could remain for a longer time in the Allsvenskan in 1982 and managed the runner-up behind IFK Gothenburg. In the 1985/86 season the club succeeded in the UEFA Cup after wins against the Bulgarian Pirin Blagoevgrad representatives and FC St. Mirren the way into the knockout stages. Women's Soccer

The first women's football team Hammarby IF was for many years the Damallsvenskan, the highest Swedish league, at, but increased from 2011. The biggest success was winning the Swedish championship in 1985.
