Hans Pirkner

Johann " Hans " Pirkner ( born March 25, 1946 in Vienna ) is a retired Austrian football player at the position of a striker.

Playing career

Internationally

Pirkner completed 20 international matches and scored four goals for the Austrian national team. He made his debut on 21 September 1969 friendly match in a 1-1 draw against the German national soccer team in Vienna. Pirkner scored after seven minutes, the guide for the Austrians.

With the Football World Cup 1978 in Argentina, he stood in the Austrian squad. The jersey with the number 19, he came back two appearances against Spain ( 2-1) and Italy (0:1 ) when he was in each case substitute for Walter Schachner.

The Bundesliga scandal

Between 1969 and 1971 Pirkner played at FC Schalke 04 in the German Bundesliga. In 47 games, he scored eight goals. Since Pirkner in the postponement of the match FC Schalke 04 - was involved Arminia Bielefeld ( 0:1) in April 1971, he was blocked by the German Football Association on August 5, 1972 to August 4, 1974 and subject to a fine of 2,300 DM. The Austrian Football Association pardoned Pirkner on 15 August 1973.

Away from the football field

As his former rival Hans Krankl also undertook Pirkner an excursion into the music business (title: " Tuat 's net schimpfn about mi" ). After the 1978 World Cup, the trained car mechanic Pirkner ended his professional career and was professionally active in the office machinery and equipment industry.
