Roland Linz ( born August 9, 1981 in Leoben ) is an Austrian football player. The striker is since 10 January 2013 the Thai club Muangthong United.

Career

Roland Linz began his career as a junior player at DSV Leoben. At the age of 15 years the Forward In 1997, two years after the Bayern youth team of TSV 1860 München. Then he returned to his hometown club Leoben, where he age of 19 became the top scorer of his club in the second-class First Division. After 21 goals in the 2000 /01 season, the Styrian signed for FK Austria Wien in the Bundesliga.

Roland Linz to establish itself quickly, made in his first Bundesliga year eight goals and played even in the national team, where he gave on 27 March 2002 against Slovakia in Graz with a 2-0 win his debut. In the season 2002/ 03 Roland Linz was also able to win the championship with the violets and the OFB Cup, was set by Christoph Daum but increasingly rare and had not recorded any more use the full distance from the sixth round.

Thus Roland Linz awarded in the 2003/04 season at VfB Admira Wacker Mödling, with 15 goals, he was the guarantor of the non-relegation Mödlinger and was then obliged by the OGC Nice. In the French club he lost his place in the course of the fall season and returned in the winter of 2005 back to Austria, where he was the rest of the season for the SK Sturm Graz active, scoring four goals.

In the season 2005/ 06 Roland Linz was playing as a striker for Austria Vienna, was an Austrian scorer and took the club to the league title and OFB Cup. At the same time, he succeeded by a strong performance, crowned by two goals to establish against Poland in Chorzow in September 2005 as a regular player in the storm of the national team. After this successful season the striker moved to Boavista Porto in the Portuguese first league, where he scored ten goals in his first season.

In August 2007, was a league of internal change to Sporting Braga, where Roland Linz could quickly gain a foothold. He scored in the league this year eleven goals in the first game and five more in the main round of the UEFA Cup in 2007 / 08, where he reached the round of his team. After a harsh public criticism of OFB president Friedrich Stickler in September 2007, the striker was no longer taken into account for almost half a year for the national team. In 2008 he took part with the Austrian national team at the 2008 European Championship.

On January 30, 2009, he joined on loan until end of season 2008/09 Swiss Grasshopper Club Zurich, then to Turkey to Gaziantepspor. The contract was signed in January 2010 but dissolved by mutual consent. On February 1, 2010 Roland Linz signed a half year contract with an option for three more years at FK Austria Wien. This option was pulled from the club. Thus Linz is bound to June 30, 2013 at this club. At the end of the season 2010/11 Linz was again top scorer of the highest Austrian league with 21 goals. After Linz came in 2012 when FK Austria Wien very rarely used, the contract was terminated early and he moved on 10 January 2013 to the Thai club Muangthong United, where he signed a contract for two years plus option for another year.
