Geographical location

Hausen ob Verena is on the edge of the Baar plateau at the foot of the Swabian Alb 740-860 meters above sea level, about ten kilometers north- west of the county town of Tuttlingen and two kilometers southwest of Spaichingen. The municipal area is the 912 meter high Hohenkarpfen.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by the city Spaichingen, to the east by Riet -Weilheim, on the south - Seitingen Oberflacht and to the west by Gunningen.

History

Hausen was first documented in 1092. In a document of 1275 it appears as Husen apud Kalphen, a reference to the mountain Hohenkarpfen. How did the later name affix ob Verena in honor of St. Verena, is no longer detectable. In the district are still remains of the castle Hohenkarpfen to find.

The council includes eight members, which were determined at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 majority vote. Two of those elected are women.

The German community time grove in Saxony is a partner congregation of Hausen.

Culture and sights

In Hausen ob Verena is the art museum Hohenkarpfen. Here every year instead of two to three temporary exhibitions of art from the 19th and 20th century in the German Southwest.

The municipality is the Tourist " Donaubergland " connected.
