Jaguar X100 is the internal name for a made from spring 1996 to the end of 2005 XK8 and XKR models the generation of the British car manufacturer Jaguar.
The XK8 was more in the tradition of the E-Type as the hesitant XJS.
The car was presented in March 1996 at the Geneva Motor Show. The sports car has been offered in two body styles coupe and convertible as well as optional with a naturally aspirated engine (as XK 8 ) or a compressor motor (as XKR ). Latter featuring a rear spoiler lip, air vents in the hood, a grille lattice optics and larger wheels. The bodies were built in the factory at Castle Bromwich Birmingham and painted, for finishing after they came to the Browns Lane Allesley Coventry in the suburb.
Both models have developed in Whitley AJ- V8 engine with 4.0 liter displacement and 32 valves, which in the standard version 209 kW makes (284 hp). With compressor is the power of 267 kW ( 363 hp). The front wheels are suspended from twin A-arms, coil springs, telescopic shock absorbers and stabilizer bar in a cast aluminum subframe. The rear wheels are guided by bifurcated lower wishbone and the drive shaft replacing the upper link. The suspension is effected by means of coil springs, telescopic shock absorbers ( the XKR two-stage) and anti-roll bar rear. All four wheels have hydraulically operated disc brakes with vacuum servo and stability control, which is controlled by the engine management.
When XKR standard and optional for the XK8 is the computer-controlled suspension system CATS ( Computer Active Technology Suspension). It includes electronically controlled sensor dampers, 18 -inch wheels and low profile tires (rear asymmetrical). All models feature a power steering. Front and side airbags and belt tensioners included with Windows. For more security -reinforced straps provide in the cabin area, side impact protection and crumple zones.
The interior could be selected between the equipment versions Classic and Sport. For Classic features include walnut burl wood on the instrument panel, leather seats, leather steering wheel and shift lever made of wood, while the sports facilities boasting steering wheel and gear lever in black leather and a dashboard with maple wood grain. Both seats are just like the steering wheel, electrically adjustable individual items can be stored.
There is air conditioning, a stereo system and a device for a mobile phone. The XK Convertible also features an electrically actuated, lined fabric roof that opens or closes in 20 seconds and automatically snaps into the window frame.
