Jaguar XF (2008-2011)

The Jaguar XF is a passenger car series of the British manufacturer Jaguar, which is located in the upper middle class. The successor to the Jaguar S-Type was presented in September 2007 at the IAA in Frankfurt to the public. Since March 8, 2008, the vehicle is offered on the German market.

In the summer of 2011, he was truly cleaned and inspired the new XJ in design. As a technical innovation of the XF got a new entry-level diesel engine. Since November 2012 there is also a station wagon ( "Sport Brake" ).


From the design of the XF is modern coupe -like shapes, instead of the familiar retro styling of the S- type. Technically, the XF is based largely on the Coupé XK. So underbody, suspension, drive and many components were taken from the Jaguar XK. The XF is available in three different facilities: Luxury, Premium Luxury and SV8. The Luxury is available with a V6 twin-turbo diesel, the Premium Luxury with the same diesel, the V6 or a V8 naturally aspirated engine. The SV8 is only available in combination with supercharged V8 engine.

In the interior there are some innovations in the XF as the rotating air vents of the Climate Control, the touch screen monitor and the new Jaguar Drive Selector. The gears of the automatic transmission are hereby inserted a large circular controller that arises when starting from the center console.

The trunk can hold about 500 liters ( 540 liters with spare wheel well ). If necessary, the rear seats can be folded down. Thus, the capacity grows to a maximum of 960 liters. The trunk of the station wagon holds 550 l and 1675 l

In the Euro NCAP crash test in November 2010, the Jaguar XF 28 points for occupant protection got 32 points in the child protection and 16 points in the pedestrian protection.


First four engines were available: a 2.7 - liter V6 twin-turbo diesel from Ford, which was installed in the PSA Peugeot models 407 and 607 and Citroën C5 and C6 Citroën; a 3.0 -liter V6 petrol engine from Ford, which it was (until 2007) in the Ford Five Hundred and the top model ST 220 of the former Ford Mondeo; as well as the only self-made Jaguar engine is a 4.2-liter V8 petrol engine naturally aspirated or supercharged.

In April 2009, Jaguar introduced the XF a further developed from the 2.7-liter 3.0-liter diesel engine, which in two power levels (176 and 202 kW) will be offered. The two 4.2-liter V8 petrol engine has been replaced by two 5.0-liter V8 petrol engine.

In May 2010, the 2.7 -liter diesel engine was replaced by a throttled to 155 kW version of the previously introduced 3.0-liter engine. Since 2011 there is also a 2.2-liter diesel ( 200 hp, max. Torque 450 Nm at 2000 rpm, 135 g / km CO2).

In August 2011, the XF has been revised. Most of the changes are ' cosmetic ', such as the design of the headlamps was changed, now that of the C -XF concept car is similar. The air intakes were designed pointed to the side, enlarged the tail lights and redesigned the brake light out at a level J.

Inside, the changes are limited. The steering wheel was designed slightly more dynamic and the area around the buttons and controls was blackened. Also, the buttons in the center console and the gear unit are now black.

As an entry-level engine, a new 2.2 -liter four- cylinder turbo - diesel now used. Effective immediately, all models come with diesel engines with an 8- speed automatic transmission. In 2.2 D also works a start -stop system.

Also new are the Black and the Aerodynamic Pack. The Black Pack includes a black finish for all chrome elements in the car front and the window frame. In addition there are black 20 " rims. The Aerodynamic Pack comprises a revised front bumper, side skirts, a tailgate spoiler and a black grille.

The entry price for the XF is currently € 44,900.

On November 24, 2012, an estate version called Sport Brake has been introduced which is only available in Europe and initially only available with diesel engines.

In the spring of 2013, the XFR -S followed as a top model in the series. This has a increased to 550 hp five-liter V8 engine.
