Junior League World Series

The Junior League Baseball World Series is an international baseball tournament for boys 13 to 14 years. The first tournament was conducted in 1981. The tournament has been held since then, always in August in Taylor, Michigan instead.

Initially played only four teams from the United States, gradually more and more international teams were added. Today, ten teams compete for the title.

Qualification

The qualifying tournament for the Junior League World Series usually find the beginning summer all over the world instead. The respective modes differ from region to region. The regions of Puerto Rico and Mexico alternately a solid starting place. In the years without direct starting place teams from Puerto Rico and Mexico can still represented the Latin America region.

Thus the qualification regions of the United States shall bring together:

  • Eastern Region
  • Southeast region
  • Southwest Region
  • West Region
  • Region of Central

At the international level, the regions are composed as follows:

  • Asia-Pacific region
  • Europe, Africa and Middle East
  • Region Canada
  • Latin America region
  • Mexico region (even years)
  • Region of Puerto Rico ( odd years)

In 2002, the South West region split off from the Southern Region. This was renamed the East until 2009.

Venue

The tournament has been held since the beginning, at Heritage Park in Taylor ( Michigan). The park is home next to the baseball fields and football fields, swimmingpools, Historical buildings and more opportunities for leisure activities ..
