Karen Shepherd

Karen Shepherd ( born July 5, 1940 in Silver City, New Mexico) is an American politician (Democratic Party). Between 1993 and 1995, she represented the second electoral district of the state of Utah in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

After primary school, Karen Shepherd attended the University of Utah until 1962 and then continued her education by 1963 at Brigham Young University on. Between 1963 and 1975 she worked as a high school teacher. She was also a member of the senior staff of U.S. Senator Frank Moss.

Shepherd became director of social services of the city of Salt Lake City. In 1978 she founded a publishing press, serving as its director until 1988 and even where they published its own journal. Between 1989 and 1992 she was a Division Director of the David Eccles School of Business, which is part of the University of Utah. Between 1991 and 1993, Karen Shepherd was a member of the Senate from Utah.

In 1992 she was elected in the second district of Utah with 50 % of the vote against Republican Enid Greene in the U.S. House of Representatives, where she replaced Wayne Owens on January 3, 1993. After she was defeated in the elections of 1994 with 36% against 46% of the votes against Greene, she dropped out after only one term on January 3, again in 1995 out of the Congress. After her time in Congress, she served on the Board of the political institution of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
