James V. Hansen

James Vear Hansen ( born August 14, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah) is an American politician.

After graduating from East High School in Salt Lake City Hansen studied at the University of Utah and received his Bachelor of Science in 1961. From 1951 to 1955 he served in the United States Navy. After that he worked as a real estate agent and insurance agent. From 1960 to 1972 Hansen was a member of the City Council of Farmington. Subsequently, he was from 1973 to 1980 deputy in the House of Representatives from Utah and had 1979 to 1980 the office of the Speaker of the Parliament Chamber held.

Hansen was in 1980 elected as a Republican to Congress and represented there, from 3 January 1981 to January 3, 2003 his home state in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 2002, he opted not to run again. During his time as an MP, he was, among other things the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct and the Committee on Resources.
