William A. Dawson

William Adams Dawson ( born November 5, 1903 in Layton, Utah, † November 7, 1981 in Salt Lake City, Utah ) was an American politician.

Dawson studied law at the University of Utah. Once he had his degree in 1926, he was inducted in the same year in the legal profession and began practicing in Salt Lake City. From 1926 to 1934 Dawson was the District Attorney in Davis County. Then he held from 1935 to 1939 the office of mayor of Layton and finally belonged from 1940 to 1944 the Senate of Utah.

Dawson was in 1946 elected as a Republican to the 80th Congress and represented there, from 3 January 1947 to 3 January 1949 State of Utah House of Representatives of the United States. In the elections of 1948, he could not defend his seat. Four years later succeeded Dawson to be re-elected to the House of Representatives. This time he stayed from 3 January 1953 to January 3, 1959 Member of Parliament and left the Congress only as a result of his defeat at the polls in 1958.

After his career in Washington 1959-1969 Vice President of Zions First National Bank, and spent his life in Salt Lake City. There Dawson died on November 7, 1981 and was buried in the Kaysville Cemetery in Kaysville.
