Davis County (Utah)

Davis County is a county located in the state of Utah in the United States. 2009 lived in Davis County estimated 300 827 people. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Farmington.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Davis County covers an area of 1641 square kilometers, of which 853 square miles of water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Weber County, Morgan County, Salt Lake County and Tooele County.

The County is part of the Ogden - Clearfield Metropolitan Area, but only geographically. The southern half of the County has economic connections to Salt Lake City to Ogden. In Farmington, there is a large amusement park. Davis County is situated between the Great Salt Lake to the west and the Wasatch Range to the east. The largest town is Layton.

History

Davis County was founded in 1852. It was named for Daniel C. Davis, a captain in the Mormon Battalion.

Demographic data

1900-1990

According to the census of 2000, there were 238 994 people in Davis County. There were 71 201 households and 59 239 families. The population density was 303 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 92.26 % White, 1.09 % African American, 0.58 % Native American, 1.53 % Asian, 0.27 % Pacific Islander residents from the 2.30 % from other races groups; 1.97% were descended from two or more races. 5.42 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

Of the 71 201 households out of which 49.50 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 70.80 % were married couples living together, 9.20 % had a female householder with no husband. 16.80% were non-families. 13.60% of all households and 4.60% had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 3.31 and the average family size was 3.67 persons.

Based on the county the population was spread out with 35.10 % under the age of 18, 12.20 % from 18 to 24, 28.20 % from 25 to 44 years, 17.10% between 45 and 64 years and 7.30 % were 65 years old or older. The average age was 27 years. For every 100 females there were 100.90 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.50 males.

The median income for a household was $ 53,726, and the median income for a family was $ 58,329. Males have a median income of $ 40,913, women $ 25,904. The per capita income was $ 19,506. 5.10% of the population and 4.00% of families are below the poverty line. 5.90% of those under age 18 and 4.10% were 65 years or older.
