Piute County, Utah
Piute County is a county located in the state of Utah in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Junction. The largest city is Circleville.
Geography
The Piute County has an area of 1983 km ² ( 766 mi ² ) 21 km ² of which are water surfaces. It is bordered clockwise to the counties: Wayne County, Iron County, Garfield County, Beaver County and Sevier County.
History
Piute County was founded in 1865. He was named after the Indian tribe Piute.

According to the census of 2000, there were 1,435 people in Piute County. There were 509 households and 389 families. The population density was 1 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 95.61 % White, 0.14 % African American, 1.18 % Native American, 0.21 % Asian, 0.07 % Pacific Islander residents from the and 1.88 % from other races groups; 0.91% were descended from two or more races. 4.46% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 509 households out of which 33.00 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 67.60 % were married couples living together, 5.70 % had a female householder with no husband. 23.40% were non-families. 22.40 % of all households were individuals and 11.60 % had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.79 and the average family size was 3.25 persons.
Based on the county the population was spread out with 30.70 % under the age of 18, 6.60 % from 18 to 24, 19.70% from 25 to 44 years, 26.00% between 45 and 64 years and 17.10% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 104.40 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.60 males.
The median income for a household was $ 29,625, and the median income for a family was $ 35,147. Males have a median income of $ 26,771, women $ 18,438. The per capita income was $ 12,697. 16.20% of the population and 11.70 % of families are below the poverty line. 19.10% of those under age 18 and 7.00% were 65 years or older.
