Kevin McHale (basketball)

Kevin Edward McHale ( born December 19, 1957 in Hibbing, Minnesota ) is a retired American professional basketball player. Since 2011, McHale worked as coach of the Houston Rockets.

NBA

Between 1980 and 1993 he played in the NBA for the team the Boston Celtics. McHale is 2.08 meters tall and played in the position of power forward. In 1981 he was appointed after his first year as a pro in the NBA All - Rookie Team. 1984 and 1985, he came to the best sixth man, so the best substitute of the NBA, selected. Once, namely in 1987, he was appointed team in the All- NBA First. He was also appointed in three consecutive seasons ( 1986, 1987 and 1988) in the All-Defensive First Team. In addition, he was seven times elected to the NBA All-Star team. Along with Larry Bird and the Celtics, he won three championships in the NBA (1981, 1984 and 1986). In 1999 he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Coaching career

After finishing his career McHale 1994 Manager of the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was also briefly coach this team: 2005 as interim coach for Flip Saunders and in the 2008-2009 season. He then left the Wolves and took over on June 1, 2011 the post of coach at the Houston Rockets.
