Khun Tan District
Amphoe Khun Tan ( in Thai: อำเภอ ขุน ตาล ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the east of the province of Chiang Rai. The Chiang Rai province is located in the extreme north of the northern region of Thailand.
Geography
Neighboring districts are (from west clockwise): Amphoe Phaya Meng Rai the Chiang Khong, Wiang Kaen and Thoeng Chiang Rai province.
History
Khun Tan was founded on 1 April 1992 as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ), consisting of three subdistricts (tambon ), which were cleaved from the circle Thoeng. On 5 December 1996 Khun Tan received the full Amphoe status.
Management
The circle is divided into three subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 55 villages ( Muban ).
Ban Ta has a small-town status ( thesaban tambon) and covers parts of the tambon Ta
There are also three " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
