Wiang Chiang Rung District
Amphoe Wiang Chiang Rung ( in Thai: อำเภอ เวียง เชียง รุ้ง ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) of the province of Chiang Rai. The Chiang Rai province is located in the extreme north of the northern region of Thailand.
Geography
Neighboring districts are (from west clockwise): Amphoe Mueang Chiang Rai, the Doi Luang, Chiang Khong, Phaya Meng Rai and Wiang Chai Chiang Rai province.
History
The county was named Chiang Rung founded initially as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) on 1 April 1995, consisting of Tambon, which were cleaved from the circle Wiang Chai. On March 1, 1996, the Sub-district, Wiang Chiang Rung was renamed.
On 15 May 2007, the Thai government had decided that all 81 King Amphoe to rise in the simple Amphoe status to unify the administration. With the publication in the Royal Gazette " Issue 124 chapter 46" of 24 August 2007, this decision officially entered into force.
Management
The circle is divided into three subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 43 villages ( Muban ).
Ban Lao is a small town ( thesaban tambon) and covers parts of tambon Thung Maha Ko and Dong Wan.
There are also three " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
