Kilchberg, Basel-Landschaft
Kilchberg is a municipality in the district of Sissach the canton of Basel -Country in Switzerland. It is the least populated municipality of the canton of Basel-Land.
Geography
Kilchberg is located in the so-called Eital at an altitude of 571 m asl on a hill on the western shore of the Eibach's, a tributary of the Ergolz, rises. Kilchberg forms with the two neighboring communities Rünenberg and Zeglingen a management network. The common local government is located in 4495 Zeglingen.
The community Kilchberg bordered to the northwest by Rünenberg, on the northeast by Tecknau, to the east and to the south by Wenslingen Zeglingen.
History
In the early Middle Ages, St. Martin's Church was built as a mother church for the places Kilchberg, Rünenberg and Zeglingen in the settlement, in 1226 the settlement was named after her Chilperch. Probably Kilchberg belonged to the diocese of Basel and came into the possession of the Earl of Frohnburg later. This gave the town on to a family which took its name from Kilchberg, since 1376 the Counts of Thierstein are mentioned as the owner of the settlement.
Between 1400 and 1870, the Canons in Rheinfelden held the patronage of the church of St. Martin, and only then was the right through to the city of Basel, which was owned by Kilchberg since 1461.
