Itingen

Itingen is a municipality in the district of Sissach the canton of Basel -Country in Switzerland.

The T-shaped scale farming village shows residential and commercial buildings of the 16th - 19th Century that are traufständig strung together.

Itingen is not to be confused with Ittingen in Thurgau, see Charterhouse, and not even with Ittigen in Bern.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the south bank of the Itingen Ergolz halfway between Liestal and Sissach.

The community Itingen bordered to the north and east Sissach, to the south Zunzgen, on the southwest by Ramlinsburg and to the west by Lausen.

Traffic

Itingen has a station on the SBB line from Basel to Olten, which is operated by the line S3 of the Basel S -Bahn every half hour. Morning and evening, keep extra commuter trains, then the trains run every quarter hour.

The municipality has a separate connection to the feeder road to the A2 from Basel to Lucerne.

History

The first mention of Itingen dates from 1226 as Utingen.
