Ramlinsburg

Ramlinsburg (Basel German: Ramschbrg ) is a municipality in the district of Liestal in the canton of Basel -Country in Switzerland.

Geography

Ramlinsburg borders the municipalities Bubendorf, Hölstein, Itingen, lamp Mountain, Lausen and Zunzgen.

Coat of arms

Since 1938 Ramlinsburg has an official coat of arms. It has a wide red border and displays in the middle of two blue crescents that face away from each other, on a golden background. It is the coat of arms of the sea bird family from Basel.

History

1367 the village was first mentioned: as Remlisperg. Only at the beginning of the 19th century, the suffix -berg has naturalized. The place was only in the 15th century from the two independent courts upper and Niederramlisberg and belonged Henman Sevogel. From him the estate passed to the city of Basel and developed in the 16th century to a village. Since 1987 is next to the cemetery an ecumenically -driven church.
