Zunzgen

Zunzgen is a municipality in the district of Sissach the canton of Basel -Country in Switzerland.

Geography

Zunzgen is located south of Sissach in Diegtertal on the banks of Diegterbachs, a tributary of the Ergolz.

The municipality is bordered to the north by Zunzgen Sissach, to the east by Thürnen, to the south Tenniken, on the southwest by Hölstein, on the west by Ramlinsburg and to the northwest by Itingen.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1323, the settlement was then called Zunzkon and probably belonged originally to rule Homburg. Both name as membership changed during the course of the next centuries, several times. The landmark of Zunzgen is the ' Büchel ', a 30 m high hill. A dating of Büchels could not yet be made.
