Geography

Geographical location

Kirchdorf im Wald is located in the Danube- forest in the heart of the Bavarian Forest right on the main road 85 at the foot of the well 1,000 meters high mountain ash. The village is located about 13 km southeast of the county town of Regen, 16 km south of Zwiesel, 30 km northeast of Deggendorf, 17 km west of Grafenau and 26 km from the A3, exit Hengersberg away. The nearest railway station of the Bavarian Forest railway with regular connections located 9 km away, Spiegelau, where the National Park Bavarian Forest begins. Kirchdorf, however, lies in the Bavarian Forest Nature Park.

History

Around the year 1040 lived here as a hermit monk Wilhelm. Kirchdorf was founded in 1144 under the name Maria -Berg and Maria in the forest as a subsidiary of Kirchberg. Since 1149 Kirchdorf parish seat for the surrounding area, first as a subsidiary of Kirchberg, which was 1204, the provost Rinchnach incorporated.

When Steuer-/Güterbeschreibung by Abbot Hermann in 1254 the 14 fief comprehensive village was first called Chirchdorf. Until 1289 it was incorporated church the provost Rinchnach, 1289-1570 again subsidiary of Kirchberg. Separate parish in 1570, it was 1576 again assigned Rinchnach. 1649 Kirchdorf had to complain 70 Pesttote. The church was rebuilt in 1755. 1806 Kirchdorf was built in the course of secularization finally own parish and in 1808 the vicarage from scratch. To distinguish it from other places of the same name Kirchdorf received in 1955 the addition of the forest. At that time the village had 53 houses with 335 inhabitants.

Incorporations

On January 1, 1972, the formerly independent communities Abtschlag and impact have been incorporated.

For Mayor Alois Wild Fire ( FWG ) was elected with 71.17 % of the vote on March 2, 2008.

Description: In gold on a green three mountain, covered with a silver heraldic lily, a green fir, beseitet front of an upright red Abtstab, back from an upright red Reuthaue.
