Kitty Carruthers

Caitlin "Kitty" Carruthers (* May 30, 1961 in Boston, Massachusetts) is a former American figure skater who started in pair skating.

Caitlin Carruthers's figure skating partner was her brother Peter Carruthers. Both had been adopted. Their coach was Ronald Ludington. Her international debut they had already in 1980. Role as national runner-up behind Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner, they finished the Olympic Games in Lake Placid in fifth place and the World Championships in Dortmund in seventh place. In the Olympics, they were the best American pair since Babilonia and Gardner could not compete due to injury. From 1981 to 1984 the siblings were U.S. champion in pair skating and thus took the direct successor of Babilonia and Gardner. 1982 in Copenhagen, they won bronze behind Sabine Bäß and Tassilo Thierenbach and Marina Pestowa and Stanislaw Leonovich their only World Championship medal. The greatest success of Caitlin and Peter Carruthers, however, was winning the silver medal at the 1984 Olympic Games in Sarajevo behind Jelena Walowa and Oleg Vasiliev of the Soviet Union. After they finished their amateur career, switched to the professionals and appeared in ice revues.
