Koichi Nakano

Koichi Nakano (Japanese中 野 浩 一, Koichi Nakano, born November 14, 1955 in Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture) is a former Japanese racing cyclist and ten- time World Champion.

Koichi Nakano began in Japan as a professional Keirin riders, where he was already considered the most successful driver in the sport: In 1200 starts he could achieve 600 victories. He is said to have earned around ten million dollars.

In the sprint Nakano was looking for a new challenge on the world stage. In 1977 he won the World Championship for the first time the professionals in this discipline. This track he was in the sequel, to 1986, nine times defend, and thus is regarded as the most successful sprinters ever.

Keirin by Nakano was known internationally, introduced in 1980 as a World Championship discipline and will be held also at the Olympic Games since 2000.
