Sean Eadie

2002: World Champion - Sprint

Sean Patrick Eadie ( born April 15, 1969 in Sydney ) is an Australian former racing cyclist.

Career

Sean Eadie began at the age of ten years with the cycling. In 1990 he turned professional after he had previously trained as a teacher.

At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney Eadie won jointly with Gary Neiwand and Darryn Hill the bronze medal in the team sprint. Two years later, in 2002, Eadie was became world champion in the sprint. The following year he won in the team sprint ( with Ryan Bayley and Jobie Dajka ) the Commonwealth Games in a world record time. In addition, he has received several Australian champions.

In 2004 Eadie at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens in part, after he had previously brought before a Court of Sport for alleged taking growth hormones. He had a package received containing peptides and had been confiscated by customs. Eadie stated that he did not know from whom descended the package and after a check of his credit he could not be demonstrated. Eadie has never tested positive for doping.

Eadie was particularly known because it - unusual for a cyclist - had a beard. After winning the sprint world title in Copenhagen in 2002 he settled in the interior of the velodrome shave by the French Track Cycling Star Arnaud Tournant still his trademark.

Following his playing career Eadie was working as a cycling coach.
