Konkan (Division)

Konkan ( Marathi: कोकण विभाग ) is a division in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It comprises the Konkan region and thus the total coast of Maharashtra.

History

Before 1961, the division was part of the Bombay State, after which it was divided into Gujarat and Maharashtra. In 1981 the district Sindhudurg from the southern part of the district of Ratnagiri was formed.
