Kōnosu, Saitama

Konosu (Japanese鸿 巣 市, - shi) is a city in the center of the Japanese Saitama Prefecture.

Geography

Konosu is located north of Saitama and Kitamoto and south of Kumagaya.

The Arakawa flows through the city from north to south. Konosu is on the Ōmiya Plateau.

History

Konosu was a post station (宿 场 町Shukuba -machi ) of Nakasendō during the Edo period.

Konosu received on 30 September 1954 with the incorporation of the village Joko (常 光 村, -mura ) in the district Kitaadachi the municipal law.
