The Som ( Kyrgyz / Russian Сом ) is the currency of Kyrgyzstan. The currency was introduced in 1993 and replaced the ruble from the Soviet Time. Kyrgyzstan was the first country in Central Asia, which broke away from the ruble zone. The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic introduced the first bill on May 10, 1993 round, with 200 rubles were exchanged for one summer.

1 Som is divided into 100 Tyjyn ( Тыйын ). Initially, the Tyjyn was in small-sized banknotes of 1, 10 and 50 Tyjyn in circulation. Due to the sharp decline of the summer in the first years after its introduction, however, this smaller unit is now rarely in use, so that the partitioning in practice, does not matter. The smallest unit is in practice the bill to one summer. Coins are in Kyrgyzstan since 2008 in circulation. There are values of 1, 10 and 50 Tyjyn as well as 1, 3, 5 and 10 Som.

Coins of the Kyrgyz Som currency issued since 1 January 2008. On the back of each is the coat of arms of Kyrgyzstan. The coins of 1, 10 and 50 Tyjyn are made of steel with brass edition, those of 1, 3, 5 and 10 Som steel with nickel plating.
