Le Center is a small town ( with a status of "City" ) and the administrative seat of Le Sueur County in the U.S. state of Minnesota. In 2010, Le Centre had 2499 inhabitants.

Geography

Le Center is located in the central southeastern Minnesota at 44 ° 23'22 " north latitude and 93 ° 43'49 " west longitude. The city covers an area of 3.91 km ².

History

In 1853 the parliament of the former Minnesota Territory decided to set up a number of new counties along the Minnesota River.

In the course of even today's Le Sueur County was formed. The settlement focus of the new counties were mainly at the Minnesota River and most of the still existing cities within the county have been established in the 1850s, while the geographical center remained colonized still very thin.

The county seat was first decide on Le Sueur, the then largest and eponymous city within the Countygrenzen. However, since this city was on the northwestern edge of the county, was thought to position the county seat central.
