Le Pâquier

Le Pâquier ( Freiburg Patois Le Patchi? / I ) is a municipality in the canton of Fribourg Greyerzbezirk in Switzerland. To differentiate with other places of the same name, the village often receives the unofficial supplementary Le Pâquier. The former German name cattle pasture is no longer used today.

Geography

Le Pâquier is on 747 m above sea level. M., 3 km south of the district town cop (air line). The village extends on both sides of a springing at the height of La Chia creek, slightly increased on the western edge of the broad Saanetals, the uplands at the northern foot of the Alps north of the Moléson.

The area of ​​4.5 km ² large municipality area includes a portion of the basin of Bulle in the Fribourg foothills of the Alps. In the east, Le Pâquier has a small share of the plane between La Tour -de- Trême and Gruyeres, towers from which the Forest Hills Sautaux ( 764 m above sea level. M. ). Population

With 1109 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Le Pâquier one of the smaller municipalities in the canton of Fribourg. Of the 93.4 % inhabitants are French-speaking, German-speaking 4.0 % and 1.2 % portugiesischsprachig (as of 2000). The population of Le Pâquier amounted in 1900 to 392 inhabitants. After that, the population rose to 1970 only very slowly to 496 people. Only since then, rapid population growth, with a doubling of the population was recorded within 20 years.

Economy

Le Pâquier was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by agriculture village. Today, the livestock and dairy farming and agriculture only a minor role in the occupational structure of the population. More jobs are in small local manufacturing and services available. Traffic

The community is located off the major thoroughfares, yet is within easy reach of bull or from La Tour -de- Trême. The nearest links to the A12, which is open since 1981 from Bern to Vevey throughout, is located about 6 km from the town center. On July 23, 1903, the railway line of bull was put into operation after Montbovon with a railway station in Le Pâquier.

History

The municipality of Le Pâquier was settled very early, as could be shown by traces that were discovered in 1910 and come from the Middle Bronze Age. Since the Middle Ages Pâquier was part of the county of Greyerz and shared their fate. The village belonged to this Kastlanei La Tour -de- Trême.

After the Counts of Greyerz went bankrupt in 1554, Le Pâquier came in 1555 at Freiburg and the Bailiwick of Gruyères was assigned. In 1784 a mineral spring was discovered south of the village. The spring water was used for the feeding of the Baths of Mont Barry. After the collapse of the ancien régime (1798 ) belonged to the prefecture of Haut-Intyamon initially and from 1848 to the district of Gruyère. Since 1919, Le Pâquier forms its own parish, previously it was part of the parish of Gruyères. On the outskirts there is a Carmelite convent. Today, the merger of Le Pâquier with the neighboring town of Gruyères is up for discussion.
