Léman RER

The S-Bahn Léman is the planned S -Bahn around Lake Geneva, French Lac Léman, including the large-scale areas of Lausanne and Geneva. In French it is called RER Léman. In the Lausanne area are since December 2004 already seven lines in use. Backbone of the expansion of the S -Bahn to 2013 will be the route Cornavin -Eaux -Vives - Annemasse, which uses the existing route between La Praille and the main train Geneva -Cornavin. Their cost is around 950 million Swiss francs, to which the Federal Government will contribute CHF 550 million from the Infrastructure Fund.

With the new line, the journey time from Geneva to Annemasse 33 minutes reduced to 17 minutes. The S -Bahn trains are to be continued up to Nyon and Evian. In April 2008, is to be decided which rolling stock is procured for the S -Bahn.

RER Genève

The line from Geneva to La Plaine (municipality Dardagny ) and since September 3, 2001 across borders to Bellegarde- sur -Valserine in France is called the RER since 1994, which is interpreted here with Rhône Express Régional, to unwind from the Réseau Express Régional in Paris to differentiate. The RER Genève served the intermediate holding Cointrin, Vernier - Meyrin, Zimeysa, Satigny, Russin, La Plaine and Puni - Chancy and is listed in the schedule field 151 of the coursebook Switzerland.

For this line on the single DC powered track SBB five tram-train vehicles of the Bem 550 were procured derived features used by the on the rail line m1 ( Tramway du sud - ouest lausannois ) Metro Lausanne.

The increase in traffic, the schedule compression and the extension to Bellegarde have meant that vehicles from the SNCF must be rented. With the opening of the connecting web CEVA the Geneva- Bellegarde to AC 25 kV 50 Hz is to be changed, then what in any case require new vehicles.
