List of compositions by Karlheinz Stockhausen

This list is an annotated list of published compositions by Karlheinz Stockhausen. The basis is the list of works of Stockhausen -Verlag (See links). Additional information was derived from the literature cited above, in particular the work list of Universal Edition, and the collected works of the composer.

Stockhausen wrote 370 individually performable works; these are often parts of larger cycles or excerpts from larger works, especially the operas of later years. The works with the broken numbers 1/11 ascending to 1/ 2 were not originally approved by the composer as valid and labeled with a number. Until 1971 was Stockhausen 's works freely; some were already premiered, but was later withdrawn and learned over the years reworking. Some were also first premiered in 1971.

Stockhausen later used also broken numbers derived from other works pieces (for example, for different instrumentation ) and, particularly in opera cycle light, for self- performable part works .. In later works it was from these re- numbered statements, the statement numbers were sometimes turn broken.
