Loreley (Verbandsgemeinde)

The community association Loreley is an administrative unit in the form of a local authority in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. The municipality includes the towns Sankt Goar, Braubach and Kaub and 19 independent local churches, administrative seat is the town of Sankt Goar. In Braubach is a second office. It was created July 1, 2012 from the merger of the Association of Municipalities Braubach and Loreley.

History
The second started in 2010 municipal and administrative reform in Rhineland -Palatinate saw a need for change in the unitary councils Loreley and Braubach. Both unitary councils below the required country in the First Law for the municipal and administrative reform population limit of 12,000 clearly.
In matching decisions the municipality councils Loreley and Braubach had declared their intention to voluntary formation of a new municipality within the current and so-called until 30 June 2012 " voluntary " phase. After 20 December 2011 adopted " state law on the voluntary formation of a new municipality Braubach Loreley" was formed with the provisional name " Braubach Loreley" on July 1, 2012, a new municipality. Administrative headquarters is Sankt Goar, Braubach remains a second office.
On October 25, 2012, the Association of Municipal Council to give the municipality the name Lorelei decided. By letter dated 8 November 2012, the Minister of the Interior, the name of the municipality on July 1, 2012 new formed from the association communities Braubach and Lorelei " community association Loreley" set for sports and infrastructure Rhineland -Palatinate, Roger Lewentz. This name applies from 1 December 2012.

Association of municipal
The association council Loreley consists of 32 volunteer council members, who were elected at the municipal election on June 3, 2012 in a personalized proportional representation, and the full-time mayor as chairman. The deviating from the general municipal election date had been fixed in the country's Law of December 20th 2011. The association council was elected for a shortened election time. As a result, the election will be held for the association council on the day of the general elections in 2014.

Mayor
For 3 June 2012 made direct election of the mayor were three candidates to: Carsten Goeller (SPD ), Werner Large ( CDU) and Holger Puttkammer. Once in the election on June 3, 2012, no candidate achieved a majority, Werner United received in the second ballot on 17 June 2012, 52.5 % majority. The term of office of the new mayor began on 1 July 2012 and is 8 years.
Coat of arms
The new municipality introduces a new coat of arms. The shield is quartered and shows up ( visually ) to the left in the blue, sprinkled with golden shingles field a golden rotbewehrten Lions ( House of Nassau ), single-headed black right in gold, rotbewehrten imperial eagle, bottom left, the red Trier Silver Cross and right Wittelsbach silver-blue diamonds.
