History

The Romans knew the advantageous location of the present-day district Dahl home to appreciate and use. On Angel Born, near the current local situation, they managed a farm, whose remains were discovered in 1909 by the then parish priest Pfaff. The farm was apparently abandoned around 260 AD, when the protective Limes fell under the onslaught of the Germans, and the Romans had to withdraw from the right bank of the Rhine.

Today's Dahlenheim can look back with its emergence in the Frankish period on a 1,500 -year history. The oldest written testimony to the history dates back to 1105, when Emperor Henry IV, the monastery of St. Pantaleon in Cologne a farm "in the village Dahlenheim, located in Einrichgau and in the county of Louis, Count of Arnstein " gave. Dahlenheim consisted in early times probably of two districts, as the Wormser Stift St. Martin counted in 1110, two towns of this name to his tenth district, which included the later Kurtrierische area on the right bank of the Rhine. The last time is of the " Zwey Dahlenheim " reports, which then probably grew together to a place in the year 1350.

To the Electors of Trier in 1354 were, who were archbishops at the same time, expand their sovereignty on a small area on the right bank of the Rhine and Dahlenheim was geometry -driven for nearly 450 years until 1803.

Ecclesiastical it belonged to the United Parish of Boppard, to the 13-14. Century for the villages Kestert, Prath and Dahlenheim an independent parish was created. Official residence of the pastor was Dahlenheim, the small village that had to have 1498 only ten hearths (households). From 1580 the " pastoria " a priest was awarded in Kestert. From the Dahlheimer Jacobus Church was heard in 1681 that she was " in good condition, is obtained from own revenues; what is missing complements citizenship ". This seems to be in the next 100 years, however, to have changed, because in 1818, had to be demolished because of the danger of collapse the house of God. 1837 began with the construction, and on May 17, 1839 present church building was inaugurated.

From when Dahl children 's home is visited a school not occupied. The school chronicle mentions as a first teacher Anthony Emmel, who served until 1799. His successor, Hubertus Nick took over 46 students and received his salary in kind, to each child annually a florin and two loaves of bread. In addition, each child had to deliver two logs of wood per day. Teaching gave Nick of All Saints until Easter, with only the seven -to twelve- year-old children were required to attend school.

Due to the Act of Confederation Dahlenheim 1806 the Duchy of Nassau incorporated. The Nassau Education Act of 1817 abolished the payment of teachers from Natural, led a year-round education and extended compulsory education to the six-to fourteen- year-olds. 1822 seemed the school building to want to follow the model of the old church: The north wall of falling down. With a rod of iron, which was drawn through the schoolroom, and a few other repairs you saved the building over the next decades. But 1888 was given the many fissures and cracks, damp school hall and falling plaster demolition inevitable. Two years had lessons in the hall of the innkeeper small take place until the new school could be obtained on 25 July 1890. 88 years later, the Dahlheimer school was resolved to be incorporated into the Loreley school. Since 1998 exists in Dahlenheim again a primary school for the communities Dahlenheim, Prath, Lykershausen, Weyer and Nochern.

1866 Dahlenheim became Prussian after the German -German war. The population of the town has almost doubled 1808-1895 from 293 to 556. The " Geographical leader for the district Wiesbaden " from 1872 can be seen that in Dahlenheim " two grinding and a Oelmühle, Junk, guest and Schenk shops, viticulture, agriculture and livestock " were operated. Shortly before, in 1870, the mining tradition Dahl 's home had come to a standstill with the closure of the pit " dawn ". Until the modern era was accompanied by a change in the employment structure. Previously, the main sources of income were next to the craft in agriculture, forestry work and mining. Today, a large part of the population is employed abroad. Agriculture is practiced with one exception only as a sideline.
