Gemmerich

Gemmerich is a municipality in the Taunus mountains in Rhein-Lahn -Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Nastaetten.

History

Gemmerich was first mentioned on 23 March 880. In the 13th century it belonged to Mr. Four court Marienfels. 1440 the village was sold to Count Johann von Katzenelenbogen. 1530 was the Landgrave of Hesse ruler, in 1626 the place was Hesse-Darmstadt city. Through the Empire in 1803 and its consequences came Gemmerich 1806 Duchy of Nassau was annexed in 1866 by Prussia.

Since 1946 Gemmerich is part of the newly founded state of Rhineland- Palatinate. After the administrative reform in 1969 Loreley circle ( Sankt Goar district ) is combined with the sub- Lahn district to the new Rhein- Lahn-Kreis, which also Gemmerich belongs.

2009, the entire council after three years without a store in town setting up a small shop business with a bakery shop on account of the church ( mom-and-pop store ).

Parish council

The local council in Gemmerich consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

Since 1979, the village will perform a local coat of arms. It shows in blue on a green-silver geschachtem Dreienberg a golden lime, accompanied by a right rotbezungten lion's head and left of a golden hammer and mallet pair. Of the lion's head to the former belonging to the Duchy of Nassau, hammers and mallets should remember the earlier attempted here mining.
