Geography
Low iron is in the Taunus on the River Aar six kilometers south of Limburg an der Lahn.
History
Grave finds in the Schönborner street from Frankish times already occupy an early settlement to 600 These finds are now in the local museum Diez.
The first written mention dates to the year 790 This document includes the donation of low iron and some surrounding villages of Charlemagne to the abbey of Prüm.
The place belonged in 1815 to the office of the Duchy of Nassau Diez after the Office Flacht was dissolved. After the annexation to Prussia in 1866 of the Lahn circle with Diez was established as the county seat. Since the dissolution of low- iron to the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis heard.
1859 community - Backhaus was built, which also took over the functions of a town hall and had a bell tower. Today the entire building is used as a town hall.

Traffic
The B 54 runs in a north -south direction by low iron. The nearest motorway junctions are in Limburg an der Lahn at the A 3
The currently operated only with Handcars Aartalbahn runs through the territory of the local church Niederneisen, but the place has no railway station. In December 2014, the Aartalbahn to be reactivated on the stretch of Limburg after customs house for public transport with an hour. Niederneisen then receives expected a breakpoint. The nearest railway station is the Limburg Süd station in Limburg an der Lahn.
Education
Low iron is now home to an elementary school and a day care center. This school building was used until the new school building in 1925, which was built in the school road and had served as a pure primary school since 1975. In 1995 the present elementary school Flacht / low iron was built in Muhlgasse in low iron. The first kindergarten was established in 1934.
