Miellen

Miellen is a municipality in the north Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Bad Ems.

Geographical location

The place Miellen lies on the left bank of the Lahn about four kilometers southwest of Bad Ems.

History

The first documentary mention of the place comes from the year 1290; the name is derived from the mill. In 1823 the village into an independent municipality was. In 1892 the roof tiles factory Edelhoff KG was founded.

During the municipal reorganization of Rhineland- Palatinate, the local church Miellen 1972 assigned to the municipality of Bad Ems.

The local council in Miellen consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Partner community

On 7 July 1990, a partnership for community Kälberfeld in the Thuringian Wartburg circle was closed. 1996 Kälberfeld district of the municipality and Hörselberg by the merger of the municipalities Hörselberg and Behringen to the municipality Hörselberg -Hainich on 1 December 2007, a district of the municipality Hörselberg -Hainich.

Traffic

Miellen is in the transport association Rhein-Mosel on the Lahn Valley Railway Koblenz- casting, between the stations each about two kilometers away from the center Friedrichssegen and Nievern. The parallel, weekdays bus routes 549 and 576 also stop in Miellen.

Federal highway 260 runs through the territory of the municipality Miellen.
