Bornich
Bornich is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Loreley, which has its headquarters in St. Goar. Bornich is a nationally recognized tourist.

Geography
The village lies on a plateau above the middle Rhine ( right bank ) on a spur of the Taunus heights. The municipality includes the three kilometers away Loreley Plateau and all buildings and scenic spots located there with a. History
Bornich is first mentioned in a document from the year 1138. In the 13th century the city to the county Katzenelenbogen and after their extinction in the 15th century was one of Hesse- Kassel. Several fires in the 16th century devastated the medieval structure of the preserved only parts of the church.
After the territory of the former county Katzenelenbogen in the Thirty Years' War was a bone of contention between Hesse -Kassel and Hesse- Darmstadt and was taken in 1626 temporarily from this, it was in the 1648 Peace of Westphalia which some sovereign principality of Hesse -Rotenburg (from 1658 Hessen- Rhein rock -Rotenburg ) awarded and thus - as this was dependent of Hesse- Kassel - indirectly restituted to the latter. According to historical drawings from the 17th and 18th centuries, the only sparsely developed area above the Rhine was widely surrounded by a city wall with three gates and digging over this period; these Walling is not obtained. With the capture and destruction of the left bank of the Rhine opposite Castle Rheinfels by French revolutionary troops in 1794 and annexation to the Département de Rhin -et -Moselle was also the right bank area of the Principality of Hessen- Rhein rock -Rotenburg, although formally still exist, in nancy controlled. Structures
Parish Church
Today's Protestant church of the town dates back in parts ( tower and portions of the nave ) from the 12th century. The remaining parts of the original building were burned in the 16th century. Before the Reformation was Bornich Mother Church of Burg Katz Castle Reichenberg, St. Goar and Patersberg. The new church of 1573 was increased in the 18th century on the south side, and restored in the years 1960-62.
Despite baroque change in the 18th century with a stucco ceiling and wooden loft inside the structure of the original Romanesque pillar basilica with cut out of the wall arcades yet well understood. The choir is gothic in the core.
Distinctive features pieces of the Flemish school in the successor Peter Paul Rubens are the organ case (1708 ), which in 1724 built the pulpit as well as an oil painting, Crucifixion with Mary and John depicting attributed.

Natural Monuments
