Nochern

Nochern is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Loreley, which has its headquarters in St. Goar.

In 2005, the village has the first place in the state competition Our village has a future occupied.

Geography

To Nochern also includes the hamlet Molsberg and the living spaces on the Brunke, Good - mill house Feuerbach, sour vinegar - mill, Stroebel mill and Friederikenhof.

History

The first mention as Nochere place in the year 893 in Prüm land register. The Prüm Abbey possessed in Nochern 15 Mansi. In 1185 the advocacies for Nochern went to the Lords of Katzenelenbogen, the basic rule was already in 1089 passes through donation of the Prüm Abts tungsten to the monastery of St. Goar, which she held until its secularization. After the extinction of the Counts of Katzenelenbogen the sovereignty passed to the Landgrave of Hesse in 1479.

Already in 1528 was introduced by Landgrave Philip of Hesse, the Reformation. From this point on Nochern formed together with Lierschied a parish where the priest lived in Nochern. 1666 a municipal building was erected, probably served as a council and school house. The 1829 replaced by a new building was used until 1971 as a primary school for the place.

In Nochern always lived only a few Jews. These included, as well as the Jews of Lierschied, for Syngagogengemeinde Weyer. The dead were buried in the Jewish cemetery common. Where a commemorative plaque was erected for during the Nazi era deported from Nochern families of Gershon and Easter.

The local council in Nochern consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

The blazon is: "shield divided by a curly lace front in blue a golden bunch of grapes with leaves, back in blue three golden ears. Down in gold a red lily ".

Culture and sights

  • The Evangelical church with tower and transept in neo-gothic design language dates back to 1892. Designed it was designed by architect Ludwig Hofmann in Herborn. Characteristic of the construction period are the uneven colored trims the Eckquader. Inside a gallery on three sides surrounds the church hall, which is terminated by a 5/8 choir.
  • Outside the town is the Jewish cemetery Nochern from the second half of the 19th century.
