Scheidt, Rhineland-Palatinate

Scheidt is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Diez.

History

The first written mention of Scheidt associated with a noble family " of Scheyde " dates back to the 1348 return, the first documentary mention was 1364. However, it is believed that the place was already in existence during the construction of Lauren Castle in 1192. The place was from the mid-17th century to the county Holzappel. From 1806 Scheidt was part of the Office Diez in the duchy of Nassau, which was annexed in 1866 by Prussia. Since 1946 it has been part of Rhineland- Palatinate.

Religion

Scheidt is the Roman Catholic parish of St. Boniface assigned in Holzappel and heard her to the pastoral space Diez, which in turn the district Limburg is incorporated in the diocese of Limburg.

On the Protestant side of the place of the parish Holzappel the dean's office of the provost Diez South Nassau in the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau ( EKHN ) is a member.

Parish council

The local council in Scheidt consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
