Lipporn

Lipporn is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Nastaetten.

Geography

The place is located in the Taunus and has an area of 4.80 km ². Lipporn belongs to the adjoining villages Welterod and Strüth the Bailiwick.

History

In 1117 transferred the putative progenitor of the House of Nassau, Dudo - Henry of Lauren Castle, his entire estate to the monastery Schaffhausen establishing a lowland castle in Lipporn. A little later, it emerged today Located outside Strüth Schönau Abbey. 1541 to 1544 saw the introduction of the Reformation in Strüth, Welterod and Lipporn. Schönau Abbey remained Catholic. During the Thirty Years' War, the town was plundered several times. In 1806 the place in the possession of the duchy of Nassau, which in turn was annexed in 1866 by the Kingdom of Prussia.

After the First World War, was the place in a small area, the Free State bottleneck between the zones occupied by the Americans and the French. The area was recognized in 1919 by the Treaty of Versailles as a free state and existed until 1923. Since 1946, the town is part of the newly founded state of Rhineland- Palatinate.

Parish council

The local council in Lipporn consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
