Schiesheim

Schiesheim is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Hahnstätten.

Geography

Schiesheim lies in the Taunus mountains, about 15 km south of Diez.

History

Schiesheim is first mentioned in a document, which is dated November 9, 879 and is no longer present in the original today. For 1526, a separate Heimberger is detected. The place belonged to the center court Hahnstätten and thus the respective owners of the Zents. Besides also viticulture field - has been demonstrated. 1443, the village belonged to the county Katzenelenbogen and in 1790 swapped of Orange- Nassau Nassau- Usingen. In the wake of the Napoleonic reorganization by the Act of Confederation Schiesheim was taken over by the Duchy of Nassau in 1806. Following annexation by Prussia of the site from 1866 until the end of the Second World War, part of the Prussian province of Hesse -Nassau and came after the state of Rhineland -Palatinate.

The oldest inhabitant statistics dating back to 1526 and reported out of ten households. In 1612 there were eleven households and 39 inhabitants in 1716. In 1965 there were 180 inhabitants in Schiesheim, in 1975, 215 inhabitants in 1985, 252 inhabitants in 2005, 255 inhabitants.
