Misselberg

Misselberg is above the Lahn situated village and a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland -Palatinate, which belongs to the municipality Nassau.

Geography

Misselberg is about 5 km south-west of Nassau approximately 150 meters above the deep Lahn valley.

History

In 1361 it was first mentioned as mistletoe mountain. Yet 1604 was the site of a farm with only three houses. He belonged until 1821 to Dienethal. Misselblume

Directly above the center of Misselberg there is an occurrence of a dwarf form of wild yellow daffodils ( Narcissus pseudo- narcissus L.), which are called Misselblumen. Locally the term Bangertsblumen is common, as they grow in an orchard ( Bangert: Baumgarten ). Stocks of wild daffodils are extremely rare and mainly found in the Eifel High Fens in the Federal Republic. The local occurrence of Misselblume is protected as a natural monument under the name " Misselblumenwiese Misselberg " since 3 May 1994. Protective purpose is "preservation of the plant stand of yellow daffodil (Narcissus pseudo- narcissus L.) in their cultural history ( natural ) community ." The Misselblumen are very dependent on the soil conditions of their location. Attempts to transplant Misselblumen, and it was only in the surrounding gardens are regularly failed.
