Bremberg

Bremberg is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Katzenelenbogen and is located above the left bank of the Lahn.

History

Bremberg is a document referred to in 1156 as a court of the Archbishop Hillin of Trier. Since 1806, the village belonged to the Duchy of Nassau, from 1866 to Prussia. Since 1946 Bremberg is part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded. 1972 came in the wake of the Rhineland-Palatinate " functional and territorial reform " to form the municipality Katzenelenbogen who belongs to the local church Bremberg ever since.

In the 18th century a so-called winter school was established. From the Nassau government elementary schools were created for all children from 6 to 14 years in the villages since 1817.

The local council in Bremberg consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009, by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman. In the previous parliamentary term (2004-2009), the municipal council had eight members.
