Oberfischbach

Oberfischbach is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Katzenelenbogen.

History

Oberfischbach was mentioned in 1195 for the first time. The place belonged to the county Katzenelenbogen, came to Hesse later and was separated by a national border of medium and low Fischbach. Of the three Fischbachs Niederfischbach disappeared when all the inhabitants emigrated to America in 1853. In 1866 the Duchy of Nassau and annexed with him Oberfischbach of Prussia. Since 1946 Oberfischbach is part of Rhineland- Palatinate. 1972 came in the wake of an administrative reform to form the municipality Katzenelenbogen who belongs to the local church Oberfischbach.

The local council in Oberfischbach consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
