Kaltenholzhausen

Kaltenholzhausen is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Hahnstätten.

Geography

Kaltenholzhausen is located at Kaltenbach, an approximately seven -kilometer tributary of the Aar.

To Kaltenholzhausen includes the living space Mecklenburg yard.

History

Kaltenholzhausen formed from the two Fronhöfen Caldenbach and Holzhausen. The farm Caldenbach is first mentioned in a charter of 790 and was located on the site of the present Kirchgasse. The farm Holzhausen was located near the present-day motocross facility. Caldenbach was destroyed in 1393 and was desolate. Then the inhabitants settled on the farm Holzhausen. Later, the abandoned settlement with the new name " Kaltenholzhausen " was repossessed.

The settlement was part of the center court of the county Hahnstätten Diez, making the change of ownership with. A separate Heimberger of the place is the first time vouched 1412. 1632 there was a separate school. In addition to agriculture and the mining of iron ore was operated until 1616 Viticulture and in small degree.

For 1526 27 households are guaranteed for 38 households in 1612 and 125 inhabitants in 1715.

Culture and sights

Among the attractions of the place are the Evangelical Church, the motocross track, the deep wells of the two drinking water plants for the town and the town hall of the local church, which was built on the site of the old, dating back to the 1825 school building. Previously, the floor of the 1829 built bakehouse served as the Town Hall.

Striking the right small town is the large number of six standpipes, which served the town until 1910, when a water pipe was installed with drinking water.

A chapel in Kaltenholzhausen is guaranteed for the year 1364. In 1895 it was demolished and built next to their old location a new church. Organ and pulpit are from the old chapel.

1964 a new school was built, but only briefly and from now served that purpose village hall.
