Allendorf, Rhein-Lahn

Allendorf is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Katzenelenbogen.

Geography

Allendorf is located about 1.6 km due east of Katzenelenbogen. The way over the county road 54 and state road 322 is about 2 km long.

Half of its territory is used for agriculture, one-third is covered by forest.

History

The place came in 1400 to the Electoral Palatinate. 1806, the village was assigned to the Duchy of Nassau. 1847, the last remnants of the manorial system was eliminated by payment of a lump sum. From 1866 Allendorf was Prussian, and in 1946 went to the then newly founded state of Rhineland -Palatinate. 1972 came in the wake of the Rhineland-Palatinate " functional and territorial reform " to form the municipality Katzenelenbogen who belongs to the local church Allendorf ever since.
