Eppenrod
Eppenrod is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Diez.

Geography
Eppenrod is on the way to Gelbachtal south of Nentershausen close to the A3 motorway.
Climate
The annual rainfall is 832 mm. The deposits are located in the upper third of the detected values in Germany. At 69% of the stations of the German Weather Service lower values are registered. The driest month is February, the most rainfall comes in June. In June, falling 1.4 times more precipitation than in February. Precipitation varies little and are very evenly distributed throughout the year. At only 5% of the monitoring stations, lower seasonal swings are recorded.
History
In about 800 BC, finds of Hallstatt - cremation burials have been dated and leave so close to an early foundation. 950 the settlement area Eppenrod was first mentioned. 1336 informed Bishop Baldwin of Trier, the parish church to the pin Limburg. The place was drawn into the turmoil of the Thirty Years' War affected. 1643 was acquired by Count Peter Melander of Holzappel the place of Johann Ludwig of Nassau- Hadamar. The place was thus finally Protestants. From 1806 the town was part of the duchy of Nassau, which was annexed in 1866 by Prussia. Since 1946 it has been part of Rhineland- Palatinate.

Monk Eppo
It should have in nearby Limburg an der Lahn, given ( Lahn ) a Conradines monks, named Eberhard, whose Latin nickname Eppo was pronounced. This monk was a strong supporter an extension of the existing forest estate and supported the local wood and charcoal - workers in their desire for a larger settlement within the then existing, dense, heavily wooded area. So be it then happened that the growing forest settlement was named in Eppods and was sound shifts to Eppenrod.

Especially the unusual summer precipitation of trees allows to draw conclusions on a certain urgency to the use, reversed by an earlier structural use is unlikely, so now the year of construction may be adopted in 1192 for the church tower. The Romanesque bell tower was probably first built it as a freestanding tower.

Economy and infrastructure
Eppenrod is a village with a rural character. In addition to some farms there are several craft shops.
A new residential area, on the outskirts in the direction of travel Isselbach, extended in 2000 Eppenrod to several streets. Only a short time later was followed by a newly designated industrial area on the outskirts after Goergeshausen.
