Lohrheim

Lohrheim is a municipality in the Rhein- Lahn-Kreis in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Hahnstätten.

Geography

Lohrheim is in the Aar valley, about seven kilometers southwest of Limburg an der Lahn and six kilometers south of Diez. The highest elevations in the district in the Taunus are the acorn mountain ( 312 meters ) and the Ergenstein (420 meters).

To Lohrheim includes the living space Kaolinwerk.

History

The place was first mentioned 790 in a deed of Charlemagne as Larheim.

The name ending " - heim" indicates a foundation to the Frankish period.

Near the village in the forest Oberneiser Celtic burial mounds are found. During construction work, other Celtic remains were discovered.

For the first time in 1276, the two noble families " of Larheim " and " thunder of Larheim " are guaranteed. They died out in 1543 and 1571.

Due to the Reformation include Lohrheim, Oberneisen and Netzbach on since 1564 the same parish.

Lohrheim belonged from 1806 to 1866 to the Duchy of Nassau, which was formed in connection with the Act of Confederation. 1868 came Lohrheim to the Prussian province of Hesse -Nassau and was after the Second World War, part of the French zone of occupation. 1946, it became part of the state of Rhineland -Palatinate then newly founded.

The beginning of 1914 the town was connected to the public water supply and to the mains. Also in 1914 found drilling instead to explore clay deposits were discovered in the rather powerful kaolin. These are broken down to the present day, whereas the reduction of iron ore and pyrite has been set. The mining of barite in the pit " Amalie " was set in May 1924.

The local council in Lohrheim consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

East of Lohrheim runs in a north -south direction, the B 54 To the south it leads to Wiesbaden and in the north by Diez and Limburg, where a connection to the A 3 is. Nearest railway station is the Limburg Süd station.

Education

Around 1770 school classes took place for the first time in Lohrheim. Initially for the private house of the teacher was used. As in 1781, the teacher died, Lohrheim basin School in Upper iron. 1836 a school was built with teacher's residence at the site of the present fire station.

The nearest primary schools are now in low iron and Hahnstätten. A junior high school plus is also located in Hahnstätten.

In Lohrheim is an evangelical daycare.
